Patenting in Life Sciences & Chemistry
A Two-Day Hands-On Workshop for Doctoral Students and Postdoctoral Researchers in Life Sciences & Chemistry
Whether you are planning a career in academic research, a move into the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries, or a transition to a research support role, there is a high likelihood that you will encounter questions related to intellectual property and patenting. Over the past decades, the life sciences have become a major source of technological innovation, leading to new products and markets. Along with this ongoing development, intellectual property issues have become increasingly important for researchers in the biosciences.
To help you prepare for these challenges, we are organizing a course dedicated to patents and their application in the field of life sciences. By the end of this two-day workshop, you will have acquired a solid foundation in intellectual property and be able to answer the following questions:
How does patenting in the life sciences affect:
- my career?
- academic research?
- society?
The course consists of a series of lectures on intellectual property protection and patent law, challenges related to intellectual property in academic environments and spin-off companies, and ethical considerations. You will also discover career opportunities in the field of intellectual property management. Importantly, you will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on workshops, where you can gain practical experience with the topics covered in the course.
