Dear Colleagues,
The Swiss Autophagy Conference 2026 is a highly interactive scientific event designed to bring together doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and junior group leaders from across Switzerland who are interested in autophagy research. The meeting aims to provide an open and collaborative environment where early-career scientists can learn, exchange ideas, and discuss the latest advances in the field.
A central goal of the meeting is to support the next generation of researchers by introducing the principles of rigorous autophagy research to doctoral students, postdoctoral fellows, and scientists entering the field. In addition, the meeting offers young researchers the opportunity to present their work and receive feedback from leading experts, fostering scientific discussion and critical thinking. The program will also highlight emerging methodologies and innovative approaches that are advancing the study of autophagy.
By creating a welcoming and informal atmosphere, the Autophagy Conference facilitates the integration of young scientists into the broader autophagy research community. Participants will gain insight into current scientific challenges and research priorities while expanding their professional network and exchanging ideas, expertise, and technical knowledge with peers and senior researchers alike.
The two-day program will feature keynote lectures, invited talks, short talks and many more flash presentations, along with numerous opportunities for discussion, networking, and the exchange of protocols and experimental strategies.
This year’s theme, “Autophagy in Development, Disease and Ageing”, highlights the expanding influence of autophagy research across diverse biological systems.
We expect strong participation from institutions throughout Switzerland, with a large proportion of early-career researchers eager to learn about the latest concepts, models, and technological developments in autophagy. We are confident that Autophagy Conference will provide a dynamic platform for the exchange of ideas, data, and reagents among scientists working in this rapidly evolving field.
Hope to see you in September in Fribourg!
