Founded in 2014, sitem-insel is Switzerland's national center for translational medicine and biomedical entrepreneurship, dedicated to accelerating the translation of research into clinical applications. Located on the Insel Campus Bern, next to the University Hospital and the University of Bern, it brings together researchers, clinicians, industry partners, and entrepreneurs under one roof. By combining state-of-the-art facilities with education, innovation support, and a collaborative ecosystem, sitem-insel helps transform promising biomedical ideas into technologies and start-ups that ultimately benefit patients.

The Sitem StartUp Club (SSC) is a MedTech innovation hub based at sitem-insel on the Insel Campus Bern. Its mission is to help transform promising biomedical ideas into successful companies by connecting entrepreneurs with medical experts, experienced mentors, investors, and industry partners. Through tailored support, networking opportunities, and access to the MedTech Hub, SSC provides an ideal environment for researchers and start-ups to develop innovative healthcare solutions and bring them closer to patients.

The MAS in Translational Medicine and Biomedical Entrepreneurship (MAS TMBE) is a part-time programme offered by the University of Bern for researchers and professionals who want to transform scientific discoveries into medical innovations and successful businesses. Covering topics such as translational medicine, intellectual property, regulatory affairs, clinical development, leadership, and venture creation, the programme equips participants with the scientific, clinical, and entrepreneurial skills needed to bring biomedical innovations to market. In addition to the two-year MAS programme, participants can also choose shorter Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) programmes in Translational Medicine or Biomedical Entrepreneurship. Through a competitive scholarship scheme, selected MAS participants receive 80% tuition support (worth CHF 25,200), making the programme an exceptional opportunity for researchers with innovative ideas who aspire to become future entrepreneurs.
