Welcome our speakers:
Join us together with Jana Seifert, University of Hohenheim and Tim Van Den Bossche, Ghent University, founding members of the Metaproteomics Initiative, to get an overview into the field of metaproteomics: the large-scale characterization of proteins from complex microbial communities.
- Jana Seifert (University of Hohenheim) - is a full professor at the University of Hohenheim, where she heads the department of functional microbiology of livestock. In her group, multi-omics analysis, especially metaproteomics, is used to study microbiome-animal interactions and how feeding resources are used by the gut microbiome.
- Tim Van den Bossche (Ghent University) - is a postdoctoral scientist in the CompOmics group at Ghent University. He is a bioinformatician working in the field of metaproteomics informatics, focusing on machine learning algorithms to improve peptide identifications. He led the first Critical Assessment of MetaProteome Investigation (CAMPI), a community-driven, multi-site experiment where state-of-the-art metaproteomics pipelines were compared.
